The major accomplishments of Woodrow Wilson were The Federal Reserve Act, he asked congress to declare war against Germany, and he led America to a World War 1 victory. The Federal Reserve Act took place in 1913. It helped the central banking system in America. Woodrow Wilson signed it as a law. World War 1 took place in 1914-1918.
Constitutional: 1. A constitutional promise of Woodrow Wilson was getting America to a victory in World War 1. While Wilson had the help of many others, by himself, he led his men to a victory. He successfully led America to the victory, so it was a constitutional promise that he successfully got a victory. 2. Woodrow Wilson declared war against Germany in 1917. This was a constitutional promise, because Wilson declared war by himself. It only takes the president to declare war. He had to have gone through other people, but he made the final decision to declare war.
Shared:
1. A shared promise of Woodrow Wilson was the Federal Reserve Act. He signed this into law, but he did not make this a law all by himself. It took many different people to approve and vote on this, but Wilson finally had the final say and signed it into a law. 2. Another shared promise of Woodrow Wilson was the Federal Trade Commission Act. Along with the Federal Reserve Act, this Act could not be done by the president alone. Woodrow Wilson had to go to lots of different people to make this a law, but in the end he had the final say and signed it into a law.
Dependent: 1. Annual speech 1916- Quote: "I shall continue the practice, which I hope has been acceptable to you" (Wilson).
-Wilson was always a very optimistic person and that helped create the League of Nations to make international sessions. The League of Nations worked/works sometimes, but for very large scale things it does not work out too well. This is dependent on what they are discussing as two how effective the idea is.
-Woodrow Wilson took on the draft again for World War I and it worked out. This was a success for the war, but the overall outlook on the idea caused more involvement in today’s society even though it is illegal to destroy a draft card. This issue is dependent on citizens to obey that law.
Looney: 1. Annual speech 1916- Quote: "I realize the limitations of time under which you will necessarily act at this session and shall make my suggestions as few as possible; but there were some things left undone at the last session which there will now be time to complete and which it seems necessary in the interest of the public to do at once" (Wilson).
-Because of the torpedoing of a merchant ship the Sussex, that happened in March of 1916, the German governments promised that they would follow the international law about attacks on merchant ships. This is loony, because the two countries were at war with each other and they did not care about what the USA thought was right and what was wrong.
-Wilson did not support Prohibition at all as a president, but it still happened during his time as president. There was really no way of going around it. Taking away alcohol in the United States destroyed thousands of jobs. Because of Prohibition, black markets for alcohol were created. Prohibition mainly created more problems that it fixed anything.
